The Tin Man

16/10/16

The success of the Ante-Post Focus articles continued yesterday when The Tin Man, recommended at 8/1 two months earlier for the Champions Series Sprint, showed a decisive turn of foot to claim the prize with some authority. The star of the show however was Almanzor who confirmed his status as the best horse in Europe and is likely to have Royal Ascot and the Arc on his agenda next year.

I’ll cover the Breeders’ Cup in Ante-Post Focus at some point before the action in early November from Santa Anita but, aside from that, it’s jumps racing all the way now up until after the Cheltenham Festival. In case you missed them, last week I gave my early views of the Hennessy Gold Cup in Ante-Post Focus with a 16/1 recommendation and uploaded the October Catch Up for the Cheltenham Festival Ante-Post copy. The last of Andy Richmond's Beating The Bias articles was uploaded today before he returns to his Trading Talk series as he did for last winter's jumps season.

Officially The Jumps Season Service restarts on November 14th ahead of Cheltenham’s three-day Open Meeting for weekly copy but I will also cover Charlie Hall Chase Day looking at the best jumps action from Wetherby and Ascot so please get in touch if you have yet to re-subscribe (or wish to become a first-time subscriber) to receive that bonus copy.

I am also pleased to annouce that Jeremiah Catskill be joining us for the jumps season starting in early November. Formerly part of The Tipping Legends team and the winner of various OLBG-run tipping competitions, as he is more of a Flat man, he will be providing monthly features on Flat horses turning their attention to hurdling and how we can best benefit from those.

The first Cheltenham Meetings of the season take place on Friday and Saturday to really whet the appetite plus My Tent Or Yours makes his seasonal return this afternoon at Kempton 24 hours after Garde La Victoire gave weight away all round to win the Welsh Champion Hurdle moved to an earlier slot following three abandonments in January. It looks like he will return to fences in the Haldon Gold Cup.

As for the upcoming week, my Horses to Follow for the jumps season will be uploaded on Tuesday, Ante-Post Focus will return on Wednesday and the usual NFL preview and Premier League Picks will go up later in the week. I will also review a couple of the jumps season preview books that are currently in circulation. The sporting calendar at this time of the year means that we are rather sparse on major events for a while but Mike Henderson returns next week to cover the European Championship Darts which is covered on ITV4.
