Let's Live Racing Cheltenham Preview Evening

21/1/16

I’m back after three nights in Amsterdam just in time to see Ruby Walsh ride his 2500th winner. Or so we think. How can the authorities not know? There are such things as Form Books and then you count his winners.

This was my first trip to Amsterdam and my poor legs! If you’ve not been before, as charming as it is, most of the canal areas look the same which isn’t ideal when you are lost at night time. I didn’t find a Coral but I stumbled across a few interesting places along the way and yesterday tried a cake from a local coffee shop. Luckily I am not previewing the weekend racing today or I might end up tipping Nigel Twiston-Davies trained favourites or something. I see that he hasn’t even entered The New One for the World Hurdle. I’m a bit spaced out man.

As I mentioned in Cheltenham Ante-Post Week 8, I would start dropping in details of some of the best Preview Evenings and the line up has been confirmed for the Let’s Live Racing Preview at Cheltenham Town FC the Monday night before the Festival where I will be appearing on the panel alongside Davy Russell, Aidan Coleman and Michael Shinners representing the sponsors, Sky Bet, who are giving away £400 of free bets in raffles and a free £5 bet on the night for all attendees. I’ve flogged my books there in the past for a tenner, or two for £22, and it’s a good fun night with plenty of banter more than a real serious form guide like others. If you are interested in attending, now that the line up is complete, tickets are on sale earlier than originally advertised by emailing [email protected] – tickets usually sell out by mid February for this event.

After a week off Big Race Focus will be back next week previewing Trials Day at Cheltenham and the Sky Bet Chase. Carl Redden has given three bets for the Third Round of the Australian Open Tennis in Sport.
