22/12/16
This is the last blog before the holiday period so my very best wishes to you all for an enjoyable and hopefully profitable Christmas week.
The only day’s racing that I won’t be covering between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day is Friday 30th featuring only Newcastle and Taunton over jumps in Britain and Ireland. Otherwise it is action all the way which will commence with a Boxing Day preview on Christmas Day, including Ante-Post Focus next Wednesday as usual, but there will be no Cheltenham Festival round up on Boxing Day. January 2nd will be the next edition of that feature for reasons highlighted earlier. This week’s Ante-Post Focus was uploaded yesterday where I suggested a second recommendation for the Welsh Grand National and fancy a relative outsider each-way for the Lexus Chase.
We’ve enjoyed a nice lead into Christmas on the sport front having showing a profit in the NFL, Cricket, Darts, Football and Sports of the Personality (including the advice in last week’s blog) all in the last week so hopefully that will continue into the New Year.
Hopefully some of you got the 14/1 each-way that I suggested last week about Nick Skelton without Andy Murray (ended up as short as 7/2 in that market in the hours before the event) or the 7/2 about a top-three finish also highlighted as he finished third overall behind Murray and Brownlee, miles clear of Farah in fourth. The equestrian set really do come out in force to vote and he polled 109,179 votes which was a massive 55,000+ ahead of Farah. He may well have got second had Sophie Christiansen not been shortlisted and helped split the horsey vote in finishing a surprise fifth as she took 37,284 votes yet Skelton was only around 11,000 shy of Brownlee. Yes, the equestrian set really do come out in force to vote so I suggest we log that in our memory bank for years to come. Murray just sneaked it with a mere 247,419 votes and poor old Danny Willett managed only 2,227 votes in propping up the field. My August each-way recommendation of Max Whitlock finished seventh.
Continuing with the sport and Ross Miles has already featured two games in NFL Week 16 that take place on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day after his sole recommendation won last week, I will be attempting to make it four winning weekends in succession in Premier League Picks on Friday covering Boxing Day’s action after wins for Sunderland (17/10) and Man City (6/5) last weekend and Mike Henderson showed a 2.25 level points profit in the first round of the World Darts Championship and has two early recommendations for the second round (the first of which is played on Friday afternoon) which have already been uploaded. Part 2 of his second round coverage will be covered on December 27th.
As promised I have also listed the 25 Golf tournaments that our new signing Ciaran Meagher, with some help from myself, will be covering in 2017, the first of which is now only two weeks away. My, that creeps on you faster than you think! Also look out for Carl Redden’s 2017 Tennis preview to be uploaded in the next week.
God rest ye merry gentleman and all that……..
